Rich Franklin’s HIT AND RUN – PROTEIN SHAKES FOR KIDS

PROTEIN SHAKES FOR KIDS

Mike from Michigan asks: My boys both want to be athletes when they grow up. Should I be giving them protein drinks at only 6 and 9 or will that be harmful? Would you give it to your kids?

Rich’s Answer: It is important for children to have a well-balanced nutritional program. Protein is the essential nutrient for building muscle, which is very important for growth. I have read studies that suggest an intake of 1g or slightly more per kg of weight. So a 100 pound child should consume no more than approximately 45g of protein per day. Most kids I know use protein shakes as a lazy way to replace a meal. Nothing trumps natural food, and I only drink protein shakes when I am not hungry enough to process solid food or when I am in a pinch. Consult your doctor and see what is the maximum amount of protein your child should consume per day. Set up the nutrition accordingly and avoid the shakes unless you have to. Remember quality of a nutrient is just as important as quantity.

Fight Summit in Vegas 2010 – Learning the Future of MMA

FIGHT SUMMIT: MMA’s 1st Business Conference & Expo

Debuts December 17-19 at Flamingo in Vegas;

Features Top Speakers Couture, Liborio, Jackson, Many More

Las Vegas, NV, June 17, 2010–The MMA business community now has its very own high-level conference and exposition geared exclusively for industry professionals. FIGHT SUMMIT – taking place December 17-19, 2010 at The Flamingo in Las Vegas – is the first conference and trade show for professionals in all disciplines and levels of the Mixed Martial Arts community in the US and abroad.

“We feel strongly that while there are a number MMA consumer shows for fans who want autographs and t-shirts, that MMA is a fast-growing national industry that requires a high-level conference and expo to help its tens of thousands of professionals to grow their businesses and advance their careers,” explains FIGHT SUMMIT Manager Mike Hauben.

“Numerous pros around the country agreed that our business concept for FIGHT SUMMIT is right on the mark,” adds Hauben.

Learn from the Best in the Business at FIGHT SUMMIT

Fight Summit is poised to be a fantastic educational and growth opportunity for everyone in the business. MMA academies, fight promoters, apparel companies, managers, and athletes can attend the conference and learn from the best in the business.

Some 20 speakers who all stand out as brilliant success stories in the MMA business will give seminars, demonstrations and presentations on every aspect of the industry.

Legends Randy Couture, Ricardo Liborio from American Top Team, and Greg Jackson will teach MMA trainers how to coach and run their academies better. Other guests include some of the top MMA apparel companies hosting clothing line seminars, and some of the best MMA managers like Ed Soares (manager to Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, and more) will teach how to represent fighters. FIGHT SUMMIT is extremely valuable for anyone trying to excel in the MMA industry from a business standpoint. Visit www.fightsummit.com for a full roster of speakers and sessions.

Exhibitors Benefit from Real Business Connections

“From an exhibitor’s standpoint, if you are a manufacturer or distributor of any and all types of equipment used in MMA gyms; a screen printer or screen printing equipment manufacturer; an insurance company; an MMA fight venue; or a provider of fitness programs—anyone seeking volume business relationships in this industry–you know you make your living selling to professionals rather than fans,” Hauben notes. “These vendors need to put their products and services in front of businesses in the MMA world, and FIGHT SUMMIT is the first trade show that really does that.

FIGHT SDUMMIT is aiming for 1,000 professional attendees to make this event a win-win for all exhibitors by keeping Early-Bird attendee registration prices between $150 and $300 and offering incredibly affordable FIGHT SUMMIT room rates at the Flamingo at $39 per night, which is unheard of for a major hotel right on the Vegas strip.”

The FIGHT SUMMIT floor plan will bring together in one ballroom at the Flamingo the exhibit floor (with some 50 available booths) all of the conference’s general sessions and many break-outs.
